What's the difference between saying Worlds and World's?

When referring to the "World's finest" or the "Worlds finest".
Top Comment: "Worlds finest" is not correct; it should be "World's finest". An apostrophe-s is a possessive, as in "The dog's tail was wagging". If there's an s with no apostrophe, it's a plural. "The dogs were fighting". "The world's finest" is thus the finest that the world has. "The worlds finest".... doesn't mean anything, really.
Grammar: Worlds or World's?

In reading a number of articles about this years World Championship tournament, including those on the LoL eSports website, I see use of the word "Worlds."
It isn't a multi-world tournament (at least until someone plays UFO Corki), so isn't it correct to use "World's" as you're basically shortening "World's Tournament"?
Also I'm not grammar expert or stickler, I don't care to prove any points, just trying to figure out for my own knowledge. Thanks.
Top Comment: I wasted a little time searching on this topic. I found a few articles that talked about words like Olympics, Politics, News, etc.; words that end with an "s" but are often more of a "collective singular" term. Most of the time the word Olympics is used to refer to The Olympic Games.
